When we look to relationships or status to define our worth, we end up trapped in envy and constant discontentment. Genesis 29 invites us to stop keeping score and surrender our idols, trusting that God sees us, loves us, and redeems our deepest longings.

Instead of striving and manipulating to secure our lives, we can rest completely in the unshakeable identity and spiritual blessings given to us in Christ.

Embracing the truth that God carries out His perfect plans through our broken, imperfect lives, this sermon reminds us to lay down our temporary idols and rest in His radical, unearned grace. As you reflect on the story of Isaac, Rebekah, Esau, and Jacob, may you find comfort in knowing that our ultimate hope rests not in our own performance, but in the Father who faithfully holds onto us.

Passage: Genesis 24:1-67

-------------------

Have you ever looked back and realized God was arranging the details of your life long before you even knew to ask? That’s exactly what we see in Genesis 24. As we listen today, may we be stirred to trust His sovereign care, reject compromise, and step out in faith like Rebekah, knowing that the same God who guided Abraham’s servant is still working all things for our good in Christ.

Passage: Genesis 23:1-20

-------------------

In this message we sit with Abraham in his grief after Sarah’s death and watch him, still a sojourner, carefully buy a small piece of land as a quiet act of faith that looks beyond the present pain. It’s an invitation for us, in our own losses and ordinary days, to hold grief and hope together and to live with eternity in view, trusting that what God has promised will one day be fully ours in the city He is building.

Passage: Genesis 22:1-24

-------------------

Following Jesus is a lifelong series of responses to God’s call, illustrated by Abraham’s willingness to offer Isaac after decades of waiting for the promised son—trusting God’s character even when the command seemed to contradict the promise. This story ultimately reveals a faithful God who provides, points forward to Christ’s sacrifice on the cross, and challenges us to release our own “Isaacs” into His hands.

-------------------

When you wait a long time for a promise to be fulfilled, the anticipation builds—but what happens when the wait is finally over? Genesis 21 speaks on what it looks like trust God's timing, surrender our backup plans, and live faithfully in the tension of the "already and not yet."

Passage: Genesis 20:1-18

-------------------

We often expect spiritual growth to be a straight upward line, but Abraham’s repeated mistakes in Genesis 20 show us that faith is actually lived out in cycles and seasons. Even when we fall back into fear and compromise, God remains faithful, calling us to hold onto Jesus through all of life's ups and downs.

Passage: Genesis 19:1-38

-------------------

We often tell ourselves we can handle a little compromise, but just like Lot, we quickly find ourselves trapped at the bottom of a slippery slope of sin. Yet, even when we linger in our brokenness, Jesus mercifully runs into our mess, grabs us by the hand, and pulls us out of the fire.
